On May 17th, 2007, the Aroostook County
Sheriff's Department received a call about a
break-in at the Monticello Shippers on the
Station Road in Monticello.
Sometime between May 13 and 16, person or
persons unknown broke into a potato house
owned by Larry Flewelling of Monticello and
removed some hand tools and a folding step
ladder. The culprits also cut several heavy
extension cords and took them.
Entry was gained into one building by
opening an unlocked rear bay door. Entry
into a second building was gained by cutting
a padlock.
An inventory by Flewelling discovered a
ratchet set painted with red spray paint, a
pair of red and blue lineman's pliers, 150
feet of extension cord and a Werner aluminum
folding step ladder with yellow paint on it
were missing.
In a follow up call, Flewelling also
reported a Craftsman 1\2 inch electric drill
and a Black and Decker angle grinder had
been taken. A yellow floor mounted work
light was discovered to be missing from the
main potato house.
Total value of the stolen items is estimated
at $700 dollars.
